이 강좌는 외국 유학생, 교환학생뿐 아니라 한국 학생들이 한국사를 세계사의 관점에서 파악하는 것을 목표로 삼는다. 전체 강의가 영어로 진행되며, 프리젠테이션을 포함한 모든 자료가 영어로 제공된다. 이를 통해서 한국 역사와 문화의 특징을 국제적 시야에서 이해할 수 있다. 특히 중국, 일본과 같은 주변국은 물론 서구 사회 및 문화와 한국 문화의 공통점과 차이점을 찾고 그 역사적 연원이 무엇인지를 살피는 데 역점을 둔다.

This class will provide the understanding for the lives of pre-modern Korean people and their cultural tradition in perspective of comparison with those of China, Japan, and other regions. All lectures and materials will be given in English.

Through this process, we can improve understanding of the pre-modern materials and practice finding facts through the materials. In particular, it is important to understand the material critically by identifying the process and characteristics of the formation of them. In addition, for a preliminary teacher, this course will seek ways to systematically teach historical materials’ learning in conjunction with secondary school learning content.

This course examines politics, economy, society, and ideology of the period from late Choson dynasty to contemporary Korea, especially focusing on various reform movements as well as social and national problems. This course also includes the issues concerning dissolution of medieval system and establishment of modern society in Korea.

The course aims to systematically understand Asian history from prehistoric times to the second century. For efficient lectures, we will learn the process from the birth of civilization to the establishment and early development of the ancient empire, focusing on China, which has a deep and long history associated with the Korean Peninsula and other parts of Asia. Furthermore, it can enhance understanding of the process of establishing the historical world, including East Asia, and the continuation, expansion and fluctuation of the global world in the 21st century.

This course examines the reestablishment and development of Korean medieval society from early to late Choson period. By focusing on the political formation, social and economic organization, and ideology of the period, this course outlines general characteristics of Korean premodern and early modern society.

The course aims to systematically understand Asian history up to the early 19th century in the 10th century. For the efficiency of a lecture, with a focus on the Chinese region, which is closely related to the Korean Peninsula and all parts of Asia, the rise and fall of Song, Liao, Jin, Yuan, Ming, Qing and the related countries and their mutualities are identified in the historical flow, and learn the modern changes of politics, economics, society, culture, thought, etc. It will help enhance understanding of the emergence of the modern global world, including countries in East Asia.

The course aims to understand the historical writing development process and its characteristics in Chinese history that shaped the tradition of East Asian history writing. After reviewing Chinese historical writings, while extracting historical understanding from historical texts, we understand what historical foundation it was formed on and how it was incorporated into modern historical perception. In this process, the ability to understand historical data and the ability to select historical materials that can be used in the education field will be improved.

이 강좌는 동남아시아의 개괄적 역사를 학습하며 이를 통해 역사인식을 제고하고 중등학교 세계사 교육에 이바지하고자 한다. 방대한 내용을 효율적으로 강의하기 위하여 동남아시아의 생태환경과 공간적 특징, 인도, 중국, 아랍, 유럽, 일본 등 외부 세력의 영향, 각 지역과 국가의 내적 성장 과정, 대륙과 도서 지역의 상호관계, 사회와 문화의 복잡성과 역동성 등을 국가별로 구분하되 관계사의 관점에서 체계화하여 구조적으로 이해하도록 한다.

The course aims to enhance awareness of history and contribute to the education of secondary school world history by studying Southeast Asia's comprehensive history. In order to effectively lecture on the vast contents, the ecological environment and spatial characteristics of Southeast Asia, the influence of external forces such as India, China, Arab, Europe, and Japan, the internal growth process of each region and country, the interrelationship between continents and islands, and the complexity and dynamics of society and culture are divided by countries, but systematically understood from the perspective of related history.

The learning objective of ‘Topics in European History for Teaching’ is to understand important historical facts in western history. In this subject students choose the major issues in western history and study them historically. We expect that after finishing this learning course, the students will understand the main historical facts in western history.

It selects and analyzes related research achievements on various subjects, including the clan rules and feudalism, the emperor rule, nomadic empires and conquest dynasties, period division and classification, peasant rebellion, dynastic cycle, sinocentrism, Tse-Feng system, and warlords, so as to gain insight into history and new perspectives and methods for education in world history.
